Hiroyuki Nose has a background in physics and has spent much of his career at IHI in the Corporate R&D Division. His expertise lies primarily in the application and management of radiation beams, with a focus on areas such as particle cancer therapy, advanced non-destructive testing, and the decontamination efforts following the Fukushima disaster. He also spent time in IHI’s UK office, where he was engaged in technology scouting across Europe. Upon returning to Japan, he took on the responsibility of promoting open innovation across a broad range of technological fields within the company.
Currently, Nose works in IHI’s Strategic Technology Division, where he is involved in formulating technological strategies to support the development of the company’s future competencies. In this role, he is particularly focused on fusion energy, with a strong interest in identifying the technologies that will become central to the fusion market in the years ahead.
