Since joining Mitsubishi Corporation in 2012, Shota has built a career in the power industry, initially focusing on project development and asset management for IPP projects across a range of technologies, including gas, coal, solar, wind, and geothermal. In 2022, he took on responsibility for investing in new technologies capable of supplying 24/7, grid-scale clean electricity. Shota identified fusion energy and next-generation geothermal as key investment areas, successfully leading investments in Kyoto Fusioneering, Commonwealth Fusion Systems, and Quaise Energy - a start-up developing gyrotron-powered millimeter wave drilling technology. In 2025, he joined the AI Solution Task Force to envision the future of AI inference data centres and develop innovative power solutions to meet their critical time-to-power needs.
