Laura Thomas is the Chief Strategy Officer at Fuse, a leading U.S.-based fusion energy company building toward a clean and near-limitless energy source. On its path to fusion, Fuse is delivering next-generation radiation effects testing to the U.S. government (and its allies) for strategic deterrence initiatives, as well as the commercial space & energy sector.
At Fuse, Laura leads the company’s dual-use strategy focused on strategic deterrence and pulsed power radiation hardware in pursuit of fusion energy commercialisation.
Prior to Fuse, Laura was the Chief of Staff at quantum technology company, Infleqtion, where she remains an advisor. She previously served as a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) case officer and Chief of Base. She built and led sensitive programs at CIA Headquarters and abroad in high-risk, high-ambiguity international assignments focused on major U.S. adversaries.
Laura has worked with partners across the U.S. Intelligence Community, National Security Council, Department of Defence, Department of Energy, NASA, Congress, White House, and with foreign governments and investors. Laura is a Fellow at the George Mason National Security Institute, an alumna of the Aspen Institute’s Aspen Tech Policy Hub, an advisor to the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue University, and a member of the International Republican Institute’s Women’s Democracy Network Advisory Council.
