Dr. Honghai Song is the Founder and CEO of Canyon Magnet Energy (CME), a U.S.-based company focused on scaling advanced superconducting technologies for fusion energy, quantum systems, medical imaging, nuclear research, and next-generation power infrastructure.
Dr. Song brings over 20 years of expertise in HTS magnets, including early pioneering work in quench physics and protection of REBCO-based magnet systems, and has authored more than 60 publications in the field. His experience spans leading institutions and industry roles, including the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (MagLab), Stony Brook University, Brookhaven National Laboratory, CERN’s LHC magnet programs, Thea Energy, SuperPower, and General Electric. Dr. Song is also a recipient of the IEEE Outstanding Service Recognition Award (2022) and the Google Excellent University Research Award (2020).
