Alfred Yip is Director at IPOS International, where he leads Singapore’s patent search and examination capabilities and oversees patent analytics within the IPOS Group. He has two decades of public- and private-sector experience at the intersection of technology, intellectual property, and business, spanning patent examination and policy, technology intelligence, and the strategic management of IP.

His international and regional appointments have included Vice-Chair of the United Nations Committee on the Law of Patents and Chair of the ASEAN Patent Examination Cooperation Taskforce. Before joining IPOS, Alfred was a Principal Consultant at a Japanese multinational, advising on standard essential patents (SEPs) in the telecommunications sector. He has also held leadership roles with the Licensing Executives Society (LES) in Singapore and internationally.

An electrical and electronics engineer by training, Alfred also holds a Specialist Certificate in Intangible Asset Management and is an alumnus of INSEAD and the Singapore Business Leaders Programme by the Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI).
