Dr. Marc Zimmer is Director of Research and Technology for Laser-Driven Radiation Sources (LDRS) at Focused Energy, where he leads the development of compact neutron and X-ray systems for non-destructive testing. His work has helped to move laser-driven radiation sources from laboratory research toward industrial deployment, enabling inspection capabilities without the scale of conventional accelerators. Trained at TU Darmstadt and UC Berkeley, he now leads the PLANET consortium to develop industrial-grade LDRS technology. His focus is translating high-power laser physics into practical inspection tools for nuclear, security, and defence applications.
