Brigadier Nick Wight-Boycott joined the Army in 1997, commissioning into The Royal Scots. His operational service has included Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Iraq and multiple tours of Afghanistan, including command of 16 Air Assault Brigade’s Pathfinder Platoon and later a company in 5 SCOTS. He subsequently served as Chief of Staff 16 Air Assault Brigade and commanded 1 SCOTS, including on UN operations in Cyprus and through its conversion to the Specialised Infantry role. Later appointments included service in the MOD, Deputy Director Operations for the international coalition against ISIS, senior operational roles at PJHQ and membership of the Royal College of Defence Studies. Promoted to Brigadier in 2023, he became Chief of Staff of the UK’s deployable, very-high-readiness Standing Joint Force Headquarters. He is now the first Commander of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He holds a master’s degree from King’s College London, was awarded a QCVS in 2011 and appointed OBE in 2019.
