Nicholas Nelson is the Founder and Managing Partner of Archangel, Europe’s defence-first venture capital fund. Archangel invests in and fosters breakthrough tech startups across the continent. Nicholas has had a 19 year career in defence, including deployments to Afghanistan, leading strategy and M&A for a large aerospace company, and advising senior national security leaders in the US, UK, and EU. Nicholas is one of the original investors in European defence tech, founding the first venture specialist in defence, Offset Ventures in 2020.

Outside of Archangel, Nicholas is also a Professor of the Practice at Georgia Tech and a Senior Fellow at the Center for European Policy Analysis, where his research bridges national security, emerging tech, and private capital. He’s an elected Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, and his writing and insights have appeared in the Financial Times, BBC, Sifted and Politico.
