Richard is Capability area leader for Directed Energy Weapons at QinetiQ UK Ltd. The role encompasses technical leadership in Radio Frequency Directed Energy Weapons (RFDEW), Laser DEW (LDEW) and other related DEW technologies. Richard’s expertise is in RFDEW, High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) effects. Richard has carried out research for NATO, UK MoD and critical infrastructure providers on protection and resilience of materiel to DEW and has supported standards development in this field.


Richard has over 30 years of experience in these topic areas, is the author of over 100 peer reviewed technical and journal papers on related subjects.
