Dr Alain Bécoulet is Deputy Director General and Chief Scientist at the ITER Organization, a position he has held since 2023. Previously, he led ITER’s Engineering Domain, overseeing 450 staff and serving as Delegated Design Authority and DigITER Program Leader. From 2011 to 2020, he was Director of CEA/IRFM, the French Institute for Magnetic Fusion Research, while representing France at the EUROfusion General Assembly. He co-founded the Sino-French Fusion Energy Center (SIFFER) and served as Deputy Director of IFEC in China. With 38 years of experience in fusion science, he has led major international initiatives, chaired key IAEA conferences, and received prestigious French and international honors.
