Matthew is an expert in data science, Neural Networks, Deep Learning, and simulation & modelling. In 2019, Matthew cofounded Luffy as a team spinout of UKAEA to develop adaptive AI control systems for manufacturing and edge equipment. Luffy's bio inspired approach utilises neuroplasticity, enabling Luffy to make ultra computationally efficient networks and embed them into industrial edge devices. Luffy is leveraging this technology to build AI control systems that learn the nuances of process equipment and adapt to changes over time to obtain maximum performance and robustness. Luffy has deployed AI controllers into a range of processes ranging from composite moulding, aluminum recycling furnaces, AC drives, robotics and drones.
