Ratu Mataira studied for his PhD at Robinson Research Institute in superconductivity for hybrid electric aircraft. He quickly realised that the technology before him could be used to revive the Levitated Dipole Reactor and founded OpenStar in late 2021. Since then, Ratu has been leading a world-class team with a mission to provide clean, abundant energy for all.
