Dr. Rainer Seßner has been CEO of Bayern Innovativ GmbH since 2016, leading Bavaria’s central agency for innovation and knowledge transfer. A mathematician and physicist with a PhD in optics, information, and photonics, he previously held executive positions at Rodenstock, Carl Zeiss, and the LEONI Group.
With more than 20 years of experience in research and development, innovation management, and science-industry collaboration, Dr. Seßner has shaped Bayern Innovativ into a dynamic “think net” for Bavaria. Today, more than 300 experts across Nuremberg, Munich, and Augsburg work closely with business, academia, and policymakers to transform promising ideas and technologies into impactful innovations.
