As Lowercarbon’s Fusion Partner, Scott supports a portfolio of fusion companies, sources new investments, and connects industry, capital, and government to advance fusion at scale. His interest began as a teenager with a high school report on fusion, reinforced by the oil shocks of the 1980s.
From 2018 to 2025, Scott worked at the U.S. Department of Energy. As Senior Advisor and Lead Fusion Coordinator (2022–2025), he co-led interagency policy with the White House OSTP, co-organised two White House Fusion Summits, and authored the DOE-wide Fusion Energy Strategy 2024. He also created the DOE Milestone-Based Fusion Program. At ARPA-E (2018–2022), he launched and managed $100M in fusion projects.
Previously, Scott was a research scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory (2002–2019), publishing 85+ papers and earning APS Fellowship. He holds a Ph.D. in Plasma Physics from Princeton and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from UCLA.
