Raymond Monk is a Strategic Adviser at Fusion for Energy (F4E), the EU’s organisation responsible for the development of fusion energy, including contributions to ITER, the EU-Japan Broader Approach and IFMIF-DONES. Fusion is Ray’s long-standing passion, with more than 25 years’ experience spanning physics R&D, tokamak operations and management including at the JET and ASDEX Upgrade fusion projects and as a member of the founding team of F4E. He also brings experience from the European Commission, where he helped develop early EU policy on nanotechnologies and coordinate physics research networks.
