Prof. Dr. Constantin Häfner is a member of the Executive Board of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, responsible for Research and Transfer. After over 15 years in Silicon Valley, he returned to Germany in November 2019 to lead the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology (ILT) and is also a professor at RWTH Aachen University. Häfner is an internationally renowned expert in laser and optical technologies, particularly in inertial fusion, and has set several world records, including the most powerful petawatt laser. He has received numerous awards, including the Fusion Power Associates Leadership Award (2024) and is committed to promoting sustainable fusion energy development.
